There is probably not a week that goes by without us being asked if we can restore rug or household carpet that has been affected by pet urine (or wee for the plain speakers amongst us). It’s a horribly stinky problem – and one it can be really hard to get rid of.
In our experience the best way to try and deal with it yourself is with a wet/dry vacuum cleaner – as the urine really needs to be fully flushed out. But even this is only effective with small weak urine stains. You also need to keep in mind that it’s not good to leave carpet soaking wet for any length of time. This really is a job for a professional.
Our removal method uses a specialised water claw which allows us to soak the urine stain with our urine removal product, eliminating the odour and germs, and then pull it straight back out under high pressure – leaving the carpet/rug only damp. This process is repeated until the odour is completely gone.
The process works especially well with rugs, which we can pick up and deliver right back to your door. When it comes to badly affected carpets it can sometimes be necessary to remove the carpet and treat both it and the underlay. Usually it’s best to organise and inspection so we can advice the best way to proceed.
